Putting people first
We are committed to the health & wellbeing, safety and security of our people, customers and operations.
Our approach
Promoting passenger health, safety and security
We protect the health, safety and security of our passengers in everything that we do.
Protecting health & wellbeing and safety
We put health, safety and wellbeing first and aim to improve our health and safety performance. Our goal is no harm to our people or our partners.
We focus on protecting health and safety in all that we do. We set high Group standards for health and safety management processes, track our performance and investigate incidents to identify opportunities to improve. We invest significantly in training and have a Group health and safety audit process we use to review compliance with our standards. We are using behavioural safety approaches to develop and improve our safety culture.
Esken has revised the London Southend Airport Safety Management System. We are also developing a new internal Health and Safety campaign as part of our programme to excel in health, wellbeing and safety.
Esken has also invested in the use of an online provider of specialist health, safety, environment and facilities management information. Barbour EHS has given Eken and the operating divisions the tools to keep up to date with the constantly changing nature of legislative requirements. This helps to ensure that Esken and its employees are not only compliant and well informed but also have the tools and resource to carry out daily routines. Barbour EHS has also provided Esken and the operating divisions with the ability to develop bespoke legal registers which contain relevant divisional information, such as statutory instruments and toolbox talks, and the capability to monitor and be proactive to legislative changes by being notified of updates from one single source.
Going forward, we will increase focus and endeavour for improved accident and incident performance throughout the business. This will be achieved through training, improved hazard awareness with employees, and behavioural safety awareness training.
We have a Group Safety and Compliance team that oversees, steers and challenges the progress of our safety performance and drives continual improvement to ensure we continue to deliver. Regular compliance audits are conducted by internal audit at all levels within the business for governance.
